Shell: Protection
The barrier — wind, rain, spray, snow
The shell is the outermost layer. It does not generate warmth — it defends what the layers beneath have already produced. Wind strips heat from the body faster than cold air alone. Water, once it reaches the inner layers, eliminates their function entirely. A shell stops both before they can compromise the system. Its presence is decisive in marginal conditions and essential in severe ones.
About ski jackets
